The food was good. I liked the smokey flavor in the udon noodles. Only one person was serving so it was a bit slow but still friendly. Worth a try.
From the moment we stepped into Restaurant Makoto, we were greeted by the warm ambiance that promised a memorable dining experience. The starters set the stage for the culinary delights that followed. The Pajeon was a crispy, savory pancake that was a perfect blend of flavors and textures, while the Takoyaki was a delightful treat, with its tender octopus filling encased in a light and fluffy batter. The main course was a generous display of the restaurant's commitment to both quality and quantity. The Chicken Katsu was a standout, with its perfectly crispy exterior and succulent interior, accompanied by a hearty portion of steamed rice, fresh vegetables, and two delectable gyozas. But the star of the evening was undoubtedly the Chicken Okonomiyaki. This Japanese savory pancake was not only huge in size but also in flavor. Each bite was a mix of tender chicken and a rich, complex array of seasonings that made it extremely flavorful. In conclusion, Restaurant Makoto in Montreal is a gem that offers an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine. The dishes we tried were not only delicious but also presented with care, making our dining experience truly exceptional. We left with our appetites fully satisfied and our taste buds tantalized, eagerly anticipating our next visit.
One of the best agedashi tofu I've eaten in the city! The soondubu jigae isnt my favorite but its really good too, impressive especially since its a new addition to their menu. Service is really good and I can't wait to try their other meals on the menu because apparently everything is yummy
Perfect spot if you have a craving for both Japanese and Korean food. Staff super efficient and polite. We were a party of two. We had both an entree and a dish and we were full. The udon soup was spicy and we would recommend asking for the fried protein on the side next time (since in the soup it went soggy).
Absolutely delicious food, cooked with such care. The tofu teriyaki is my go-to: always good. The agedashi tofu is delicious and the Tteok-kochi was perfection! Crispy outside, chewy inside, perfectly spicy. Miso soup and a fresh and delicious salad come with every meal. This place is a wonderful find! Super yummy, affordable food, and the service is wonderful as well.
So tasty!! And the price point is right on!! The tofu salad is so surprisingly good, the tofu has such a great texture! Pork Katsu is delicious too. Definitely will be ordering again.
We unexpected had free soup and salad after we've ordered food. Cozy restaurant. Great amount of pork Katsu, it was really crispy and tasted really good. Karaage was average for me.
This spot is amazing. Great new find. I'm not sure how other rate it lower than 4-5 stars. The portions are big, and you get a miso soup with a salad for below average price, that's unbeatable at this day and age. The food came really fast. There's only one waiter yet he managed to serve us politely and pack the food for the other tables and take other orders or pay bill. He's very efficient. More detail on the food: (if you're willing to read) I haven't had a good pancake like that in awhile. Not too much better and just the right amount of crispy with veggies. It wasn't too overcooked like some place and oily. The Katsu had more batter but still very crispy. But this is my preference bc I don't like batter and carbs, I can go protein all day. The karage has good amount of meat. A bit on the firmer side than the juicy soft but maybe it's the chicken breast rather than other parts of the chicken. The salad entre has great flavor with olives, tomatoes and greens. The miso was also great. I usually don't like the grainy dense texture but it didn't bother me and wasn't salty like some places. This is my first time trying the Okonomiyaki and it was amazing. It was filling. I wished it had more protein but again this is just me. There's good amount of sauce and full of veggies. Can't go wrong! I loved it, I was so full after that even though I shouldn't be eating like that on my cut. Sorry for not taking picture before devouring it!
